Maison Criner Estevan
A family business born of boldness, passion, and continuous learning. Discover our wines, the reflection of an authentic adventure, shaped by working the land and a love for the craft.
Nestled in the heart of the Seyssuel terroirs, our family winery is the result of a wonderful adventure that began in 2019.
It all started with my uncle Pierre, who owned some fallow land and inherited some land that was ideal for growing vines but remained unexploited. The idea of joining forces was born out of a shared passion for wine, a world I came to know and love during my studies. The combination of my passion and my desire to share my love of wine gave rise to an ambitious project: to become a winemaker.
We also wanted to bring back cultivation to family land where vines had always had a place.
From the outset, authenticity and the desire to do everything by hand guided our choices. We started from scratch, with no vines, no cellar, and no equipment. It was a bold gamble, but our passion and determination made all the difference.
In 2020, the first vines were planted on land in Seyssuel, in poor schist and quartz soil, and since then, each vine has been treated with the utmost care.
In 2022, an opportunity arose: the acquisition of an old building in Seyssuel. We seized this chance to set up our winery and breathe new life into it, while respecting the history of the place. We were thus able to create a space that reflects our vision: a perfect harmony between tradition and innovation.
When we launched the estate, Elio did not yet have all the skills required to be a winemaker. So it was during the course of this adventure that he gained his training and experience, alongside the emergence of the estate, combining learning and passion at every stage.
Today, our winery has 3.5 hectares of vines between Seyssuel and the Saint-Joseph AOP. Each cuvée we produce reflects our commitment: meticulous work, a constant quest for excellence, and a desire to express everything these magnificent terroirs have to offer.
