Château de l'Arthaudière
This château bears witness to Renaissance architecture. Successive architectural alterations have left the mark of each period, from the Middle Ages to the 19th century. There are also superb terraced gardens facing the Vercors mountains.
Classified as a Historic Monument in 1991, the château and its gardens are currently undergoing a major restoration campaign. The château also bears witness to the past grandeur of 2 families of local lords, the Arthauds and the De La Porte. Of particular interest are the original sculpted decorations of the Renaissance portico and the historic terraced gardens, probably laid out in the early 17th century.
While we wait to rediscover the splendor and majesty of the Château de l'Arthaudière, a visit to the Château and its exhibition are an invitation to discover a little-known heritage steeped in history.
The "L'Arthaudière: Une seigneurie rurale" exhibition occupies part of the former stables, now restored, and presents the adventure and history of the château, its architectural evolution, its environment, and the men who lived there. Three beautiful rooms in the outbuildings host temporary exhibitions by artists from June to September.
