"Lekkarod" - International sled dog race
From toThe Lekkarod is a long-distance stage race for sled dogs whose objectives are in line with a genuine philosophy for the sport of dog sledding.
Against the magnificent backdrop of the Alps, mushers from all over Europe gather for a competition centered on respect—respect for people, dogs, and nature.
Two types of events: sled racing and skijoring (a sport combining skiing with an animal-drawn team, practiced here with a sled dog).
Meet at Chamrousse 1650—Recoin on the snow front for entertainment and at Le Vernon for race starts—and especially at the finish line on the Plateau de l’Arselle in Chamrousse 1600—the Nordic ski area!
Schedule (details to follow):
• Le Vernon parking lot (Chamrousse 1650):

While the spectacle provided by the sled dogs is both wonderful and filled with the deepest respect for the animals, it is everyone’s responsibility to understand and follow a few rules of conduct designed to ensure these canine athletes are not harmed.

Sustainable tourism
The activity of sledding allows sled dogs to take their place in nature. And to satisfy their animal instinct by running through the snow. But it is also a good way to forge their pack spirit, to strengthen their cohesion and the triangular relationship between man, animal and nature.
