Anne Mangin
Anne Mangin produces and sells honey and saffron grown locally in Oisans. Certified by the “Bienvenue à la ferme” and “Producteurs de l’Oisans” programs, Anne is like a shepherdess of bees, while keeping her hands in the soil.
Anne has been interested in beekeeping for several years now. It was in the Cévennes that she first developed this passion for these half-wild, half-domesticated insects, but it is in the Oisans that her hives and bees live year-round.
Today, part of the wildlife population is in decline. Bees are an integral part of this vast chain of ecosystems. They are believed to have appeared at the same time as the angiosperms that produce nectar and pollen. The pollinating activity of honeybees gives beekeeping a decisive and indispensable role in the global ecology of flowering plants.
They also have a fascinating colonial organization. Each bee depends on the others in a system where complex communication mechanisms regulate the division of labor and ensure social cohesion.
Combining beekeeping with farming is important to Anne. The two complement each other; their growth and peak production occur at distinctly different times.
Anne sells her products locally, at nearby markets and festivals, as well as at her farm (by phone appointment and generally in the evening). The products offered are:
