Sentier des gorges de Livet
This easy walk invites you to discover Livet's cultural and natural heritage. Between Himalayan footbridges, typical hamlets and historic sites, it's a beautiful bucolic interlude in the heart of Oisans.

ITINERARY
Turn left at the museum, then take the 1st left up Rue Georges Pelletier.
up Rue Georges Pelletier. Then take the 3rd
alley on the left (at the stop sign), rue des Eaux Claires.
under the canal.
After this, turn right and follow a path until you reach
rue de la Combe Blanche. This connects the
road to the hamlet of Les Ponants. Follow it,
take the footbridge over La Romanche (rather than the bridge) and continue through Les Ponants
Ponants, one of Livet-et-Gavet's original hamlets.
The road again becomes a track (chemin de la
Vigne) for just over a kilometer.
To reach the Himalayan footbridge, take the path on the right, which descends past one of the most popular bouldering sites.
Take the footbridge and continue along the path to the road
road (RD 1091). Cross it (with care!) to reach the hamlet of
hamlet of Les Roberts along the road.
In the hamlet, follow the route des Roberts (2nd left)
which becomes a track. Reach Livet by crossing
RD 1091 again. The Vernes factory is in front of you.
Continue to the right to reach the village of Livet
along the old road. Just before crossing the Romanche
the Keller pavilion (filming location for "Rivières Pourpres" and
Pourpres" and "de l'autre coté du périph'") and you've arrived!

INTERESTING FACTS
-The Vernes plant was commissioned in 1918, and classified as a historic monument in 1994.
-The Musée de la Romanche offers exhibitions on the geology and industrial history of the Romanche valley.
-The Himalayan footbridge is 15 m long and 10 m above the bed of the fiery Romanche!
