Clos Claret Municipal Park
Clos Claret Municipal Park is the ideal spot for a family stroll or a break in the countryside. This wooded area, covering nearly 5 hectares in the heart of the Cité des Peintres, combines heritage, century-old trees and green spaces perfect for relaxation.
Clos Claret Municipal Park was once the private property of the Claret family, who shaped its layout over more than a century, from 1850 to 1973.
Originally, the land consisted of fragmented plots, some of which were farmed whilst others lay fallow. It was Antoine Claret, with the help of his brothers, who set about bringing these plots together. The estate then covered an area of nearly 5 hectares.
At that time, the estate consisted of a main house and outbuildings: stables for cows and horses, a shed, the gardener’s cottage, an orangery, a kitchen garden, a small woodland, a vineyard, ponds, a washhouse and a charming thatched cottage set high up in the woodland, a veritable country retreat measuring around 30 m².
In 1974, the family sold the property to the municipality of Morestel, which turned it into a municipal park. Today, this vast, tree-lined space is a place for relaxation and socialising: children play there, families gather there, and walkers stroll in the shade of century-old trees.
