Col de Croix de Fer - mountain pass

  • Cycling sports
  • Cycle tourism route

A must for cycling fans in the Alpes.

A beautiful tour in the Eau d'Olle Valley that will lead you to the borders of Oisans on the Savoy side. The climb is steep up to the Lake Grand Maison. Your calf muscles will certainly remember some of the sections. But once on the top, what a joy!

Route details

From Rochetaillée, take the D526 towards Allemond/Col du Glandon - Col de la Croix de Fer". At the first crossroads, turn right onto the D44.
From Lac du Verney dam, take the D526 and cycle along the lake.
At the end of the lake, start the steady ascent up the D536 to Rivier d'Allemond.
At Rivier-d'Allemond, go back down a few hundred meters to continue with the demanding ascent to the Lac de Grand' Maison.
From there, it's an easier ride to the Croix de Fer pass.
