Cycling route : The Blue Valley Tour
Essential bike loop from the Blue Valley (26km)! ViaRhôna, view of the city of Quirieu, crossing the Rhône and return by the right bank via the Espace Eau Vive. Nature, industrial heritage and landscapes of Bugey on the program.
Enjoy a varied cycle loop combining ViaRhôna, nature trails and the discovery of local heritage. Starting from the Base de Loisirs de la Vallée Bleue, this itinerary offers you a big breath of fresh air at the foot of Bugey.
The key steps of your walk:
Towards Quirieu: Start with the ViaRhôna towards the Vicat cement factory and the medieval site of Quirieu. Enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the Rhone Valley.
La Rive Droite: Cross the Briord bridge to join the old towpath until you reach the base of the Point Vert.
Nature or Discovery (your choice):
Continue on the classic cycle path.
Or opt for the paths of the old meanders of the Rhône in Serrières (mountain biking/VTC recommended).
Culture Option: A detour of 5-6 km allows you to visit the old millstone quarries of Villebois.
Water and Energy: Admire the curious "Demoiselles coiffées" of Villebois, cross the dam and make a spectacular stop at Isle de la Serre (artificial river for kayaking and whitewater swimming).
The Return: Walk along an old railway track with a clear view of the mountains before returning to the Blue Valley for a refreshment or a well-deserved meal by the water.
