La Souloise - N°39 - Red
La Souloise is a relatively short but demanding course, not to be taken lightly. Its configuration is original on the slopes overlooking Lake Sautet in the Souloise valley.
At the start of Pellafol, in the Payas, the route seems first debonary along the large agricultural plateau characteristic of the municipality. Quickly, its plunges into the forest to reach the bottom of the valley of the Souloise for the first time. A first ascent allows to reach the village of Monestier‐d'Ambel, on the left bank, in an atmosphere still largely forested. The route then plunges back to cross the Souloise, just upstream of the arm of Lake Sautet which rises in this valley. It will be necessary to have preserved your energy for the continuation of the course, which overhangs the lake of Sautet while crossing numerous ravines characteristic of the buttresses of the plateau of Pellafol. The atmosphere is wild, punctuated by many panoramas on the lake. The terrain, made up of pebbles and coarse gravel, accentuates the difficulty of the sequence of sustained butts and descents. The last ascent crosses the hamlet of Vieux Pellafol and, after a final effort, reaches the plateau.
