L'Arche de Julie: farm offering activities and animal-assisted therapy

  • Company open to the public

A refuge and educational farm, L'Arche de Julie takes in rescued animals and offers small group visits, awareness-raising and animal-assisted therapy for families and people with disabilities.

L’Arche de Julie is a shelter and educational farm located in Vézeronce-Curtin, dedicated to taking in rescued animals and fostering bonds between humans and animals. The animals taken in live in an environment based on respect, kindness and stability, promoting peaceful and authentic interactions.

The facility welcomes visitors in a deliberately family-friendly setting, unlike traditional animal parks. Visits are exclusively for small groups and by reservation only, in order to ensure a high-quality experience. They allow visitors to immerse themselves in the animals' living spaces, with the opportunity to interact directly with them, get close to them and better understand their history and needs.

These gatherings are aimed at both families and children, with a view to raising awareness of living creatures and respect for animals.

During these workshops, you will have the opportunity to:
- Discover the environment and needs of animals
- Cuddle the animals
- Differentiate between species
- Care for the animals
- Interact with the animals
- Feed the animals
- Walk the animals
- Communicate with the animals
- Take the animals on short walks
- Maintain their environment

L’Arche de Julie is also developing animal-assisted therapy, defined as the intentional interaction between humans and animals with the aim of maintaining or improving physical, mental, social and emotional well-being. This practice is based on a relationship between a trained professional, the person being supported and the animal. It has an impact on various areas such as motor skills, cognition, emotions, relationships and mood.

Animal-assisted therapy facilitates communication, encourages engagement and allows for a gentler, less confrontational approach to situations involving disability or frailty. Sessions are available on an individual or group basis, for private individuals as well as healthcare, medical-social or educational institutions. Depending on requirements, support can be provided by one or two professionals trained in animal-assisted therapy.

The activities take place on the farm or can be organised directly at the establishment, at home or in a specialised facility, with animals selected from different species, depending on the objectives and the participants.
