Lavey Shelter—hike from Champhorent

Family hike along the Muande stream. Please note that the Lavey refuge is closed until spring 2027.
This route offers wonderful discoveries at every turn:
- Two stone bridges, including the magnificent Pont des Rajas
- The Lavey mountain hut, nestled in the heart of the valley
- Spectacular views of the Olan (3,564 m) and the Rouies (3,589 m): two legendary peaks of the Écrins Massif, towering over the upper Vénéon Valley and offering a majestic landscape of rock and glaciers.
Route details
Take the trail at the end of the parking lot to first descend to the Vénéon stream and its magnificent Pont des Rajas.
Cross the pretty stone bridge and head uphill toward the Rajas houses.
Continue climbing to enter the Muande Valley and follow the stream along the right bank, then switch to the left bank after crossing a second stone bridge.
At the shepherd’s hut, cross the gently sloping slabs to reach the refuge hidden behind this small glacial moraine.

From 15/05 to 31/10 daily.
Subject to favorable snow and weather conditions.
