Le Parc Napoléon - La Bédoyère

  • Historic site and monument

This park is close to the site of the meeting between the Emperor on his return from Elba and Colonel Charles de La Bédoyère, on March 7, 1815. A commemorative monument was erected in the park on October 26, 1996.

On his way to Grenoble, Napoleon passed through the town and this square on March 7, 1815. He did not enter the château, but continued on his way to Grenoble.
His arrival caused quite a stir, as it was market day. He met briefly with the mayor, François Boulon, asked about the commune's needs, and had a sum of money handed over for the hospital.
