Museum and Archaeological Sites of Saint-Romain-en-Gal

  • Museum

The Saint-Romain-en-Gal Archaeological Site is one of the largest complexes dedicated to Gallo-Roman civilization in France.
The museum is located in the heart of a 7-hectare cultural park that is breathing new life into this residential neighborhood of Vienne.

It features thermal baths, workshops, dwellings, and shops that have been unearthed since 1967.

The museum is organized into four sections: the history of ancient Vienne, the economy and crafts, mosaics, and daily life in a Roman home. The restoration workshop responsible for preserving the mosaics is now internationally recognized for the quality of its work.
All year round, come explore the permanent collections through guided tours and children’s workshops. Every year, the museum hosts temporary exhibitions and offers musical performances, storytelling, and special events such as the Gallo-Roman Days or the Vinalia (Roman grape harvest festival).
