The Sambue Pass

The Pas de la Sambue is a mountain pass at 1,450 meters that marks the border between Isère and Drôme. This lush, cool area is surrounded by fir forests as well as shrubs such as elderberry (Sambucus in Latin), which gave the mountain its name.

When you reach the summit of La Sambue (20 minutes from the pass), you can see the Herbouilly plain to the west and, to the east, the mountain range that borders the Vercors Massif all the way to the Grand Veymont.
