Crémieu heritage trail
Less than an hour from Lyon, discover the medieval town of Crémieu, with its rich architectural heritage dating back to the 12th century. From the medieval market hall to the Augustinian cloister, Crémieu's history is yours to discover.
Among the emblematic monuments of Crémieu, Petite Cité de Caractère, let yourself be charmed by :
- The 12th-century Château Delphinal, which stands atop a strategic promontory and bears witness to the town's development. The castle is privately owned and not open to visitors.
- The 14th-century fortified gates, including the Porte de La Loi, restored in 2023.
- The 15th-century market hall, the only one of its kind in Isère, with its slate roof and grain scales.
- The Augustinian convent (14th-19th centuries), set against the ramparts, and its 17th-century cloister.
All these vestiges are visible traces of a past when Crémieu was an important military, economic and religious center of the first order.
